Scottish macaroons
If you’re looking for a Scottish dish to make for Burns night other than haggis*, these are very good – nothing like the English item of the same name and containing the somewhat surprising ingredient of potato (undetectable, is lovely fondant) – the recipe is still up on Cat’s old blog with pics of them properly covered in coconut, of [...]
ice cream bombe
Was lovely, lovely pud – recipe up on Yule, pictorial instructions below
mouseover:
freeze until needed!
little logs
recipe here. Go very well with A Muppet Christmas Carol, lots of snow outside and a roaring fire :D
getting a bit festive
Charlotte’s mince pies and chocolate logs made by a friend… said logs went very well with A Christmas Carol in 3D. Wonderful film, amazing having snow falling all round us like that
Summer Solstice
Celebrated by lying in the sun, on the grass all afternoon… very blissful.
Chocolate mint nut mylk:
Handful cacao nibs, few brazil nuts, a few springs of mint, a little agave, water… very nice, though very rich. Next time will try hemp seeds instead of nuts and vanilla instead of agave
Christmas 2008
Had lovely time with family
menu added by request

seasonal and busy
not exactly festive but I took these pics in St. Nicholas churchyard the other day and I like them
Went to the panto at HMT – outside, beforehand:
We sat in a box – was amazed to discover that it was almost the same price as the stalls would have been for all of us. Captain Hook [...]
Halloween 2008
a gentle start to the day:
getting costumed up:
then off to the party!!
Moonrabbit Lucy’s fabulous animatronic butler – speaks, breathes, turns head and eyes…
and a little education did happen too Daytime pics of graves as I, correctly, doubted my camera’s night-time abilities…
The witches walk took place in the dark with torches and some history about the [...]
summer solstice
We do actually eat blue stars Based on recipe here
studying sonnets here just now. Apparently in the 1590’s May did extend into what is now our June so not too inappropriate:
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath [...]

amazing language, wonderful poems
a beautiful ballet book.
