graze
The postman just bought our first graze box, which we got free, and it’s gorgeous. Very high quality snacks in there, loads to choose from on their site. There’s even a non-vegan food list so you can bin all those items if you are vegan, though I would say the majority of it is fine. [...]
raised beds
We have 3 new ones for next season, hopefully one more to come Planning to give over the whole allotment bit at the bottom of the garden to potatoes next year, with the chives, rhubarb and some other bits (maybe leeks? nasturtiums?) for biodiversity. It’s been really noticable this year that the more food we [...]
garden doings
Browsing Sutton’s seed clearance, some good bargains…(would it be totally daft to attempt goji berries here???) got quite a few of our seeds from there this year and they were very good, no disasters B&Q have got lots of trays of veg plants reduced to 50p just now – nabbed a load of cabbage and kale [...]
blackcurrants and tyres
got totally soaked collecting blackcurrants for the smoothie this morning – was worth it, quite delicious In that jug are borage flowers, blackcurrants, plantain and curly kale plus a fair amount of rain - added to it were bananas, apple, brazil nuts, linseeds and red grape juice. The tyre garden is growing well The mint is [...]
pie and bed
Very simple – spelt pastry with onion, carrots and celery in a white sauce for filling, was very good with new tatties just pulled from garden In the background is the ongoing construction of the first of the raised beds – were making them out of the old roof tiles and veranda wood. Very inspired [...]
a toolbox of lettuce
Decided I had to put a container of something here in the very hottest spot on the property – sheltered by walls to North and East, it’s a veritable sun trap. So, old toolbox found in shed, a packet of red salad bowl and one hot weeks growth later Looking the other way from here: The [...]

Firstly, friends of ours are now running a self catering ‘gite’ in the South of France for vegetarians and vegans – it all looks so beautiful: Le Mimosa (link deactivated as no longer running) Next this fab compilation of recipes, been leafing through it hungrily this morning Has a bit about veganism, then soups, mains, desserts, savoury [...]
