polytunnels and taps
Weve had a few spring-like days now, causing me to dig over some ground for the little polytunnel and clean and set up the coldframe to let the ground warm up for salad seeds. Browsing Suttons trying to decide what to plant this year – will have more room with extra raised beds… this really [...]

lovely herbs and the unintended
Cat has a wonderful new website: The Tasty Herbalist - go see
Strange day today where a slight disaster led to us doing totally unintended things such as visiting the Wallace and Gromit exhibition at Satrosphere. It was very good, also being about other animation and techniques etc.

blog, Illich and broth
Have finally got the blog how I want it – a terrible tale of databases, installations of wordpress and corrupted (by me) css files ensued but I’ve now uploaded the archives (see drop down on sidebar) and cleaned up dead links too
Reading a book lent by my mum. She found it while scouring her shelves during the [...]

mushrooms and the moon
Creamy Mushroom Puff (from Yule):
Went to a Moonwatch event at Archaeolink last night, very good talk and the cosmic dome was good as usual though sadly it was too cloudy for us to see anything through the huge telescopes they had set up… so here’s something blurry I prepared earlier in the week
I promised [...]
WW2, purple soup and festive chocs
Another Historic Scotland educational event with the home ed group yesterday – very entertaining, I learned things
Photographer form P&J there by steps, should be something in Monday.
This is what happens when you add red cabbage to miso noodle soup (recipe here, scroll down a bit, there’s also tofu in pictured Disney cartoon soup):

art, literature and chocolate…
chocolate sneaks in everywhere here… so will start blog post with it. After going to see the naked people at the art gallery (well worth seeing, wow, the newborn baby, the scared wild man… they speak of human vunerability somehow despite the size) popped into the new health food shop in Aberdeen to find that [...]

rabbits, cliffs, cushions and steamed chocolate pudding :)
Always together these two rabbits. They live under the rhoddies in the front garden.
Gothic House on cliffs, sea must be so loud from there!
There has been some sewing and knitting occurring
Bracken sent us a great variation on our chocolate cake recipe, turning it into a steamed choccie pud with sauce akin to the M&S [...]
just when you worry that the world is mad…
…with stories of a dinner lady sacked for telling the truth about bullying (I can vouch for such an act being akin to this, though stoning is done with tongues and a twisting of the truth these days in this country) and two policewomen being prevented from looking after each others children by Ofsted…
Worry no [...]
