We are highly recommending Historic Scotland’s educational activities - great for home ed or school groups

Chocolate mint layer cake made by a clever friend who is generally good at making things (recipe now in the comments below)
White chocolate mousse with red berries. Melt about 100g of cocoa butter and blend into a block of silken tofu with some icing sugar and vanilla…

Gorgeous hot weather continues… gooseberries and rasps from the garden are making their way into the breakfast smoothies now Talking of smoothies, the green smoothie blog has been added to the sidebar, lots of good ideas there.
The clearout has reached the kids wardrobes so many more puzzles and educational games are up here

Got to give a mention to Moonrabbits Cotton Comforts who were included in a two year study of reusable pads from around the world by Brunel University – they came 1st for value and were in the top 3 for being well made, comfy etc. Fab

a stone circling day

Couldn’t access the stones at Castle Fraser as they were having stabalising work done on them… so we went to Broomend of Crichie to see the remains of a circle and henge – there were also avenues here in the past, only one stone remains of them.

Home ed group trip to the Birnie archaeological dig. Archaeologist gave us a very interesting talk about the site and finds and then it was off to the trenches where 1st year archaeo students were excavating an iron-age burnt down roundhouse:
