pink and white tatties
Never before have we had so many of these beautiful apples of the Earth. Pull a stem and reach into the ground for tuber after tuber – the plot is full of them
Weather conditions have no doubt contributed to this abundant harvest but I’ve also been a more diligent waterer on dry days. Sunshine finds me standing at the well, filling cans with the water so rich in iron it smells of metal. Plants love it. Potatoes are thirsty roots.
…and we do love these pots: in salads with mayo and chives; as a side dish with marg and parsley and in soups with kale and onion from the garden too
They make rather a nice ‘sack of spuds’ too in our shop!!

amazing Russian books these: spirituality; growing; living naturally; raising children with love and respect; quite magical. Release any preconceived ideas of how life should be (or books) and create your space of love!

Pommes de Terre – apples of earth
I love that your potatoes are pink, I want pink mashed potato!
sadly they are not pink all the way through! Highland Burgandy is an old variety that is, grew them a couple of years ago
Oh wow! I’ve never seen them sold in shops though which is a shame, but I will certainly look out for them! Thats something to liven up a dinner plate…oh pink chips!
Just come back from our allotment with pots/courgette/beans and red onions, girls are jealous of your tatties though !!!
Are there any red potatoes that make good chips?
you might find old varieties in small local produce places sometimes but I’ve never seen them in larger shops.
more courgette envy for me – still only male flowers on ours!
I don’t know Riaz – Kerrs pink is quite a firm potato, popular up here – might be good? It’s just the skin that is pink though.
we had some charlotte pots on sunday, delicious and our first courgette yesterday but I dug my onions up and composted them planted too late they never grew
