Toby has eaten some strawberries that are growing in a pot on the patio but he hasn't taken any fruit off bushes or plants in the ground (that I know of!)...

I think blackcurrants are rare because Mr Ribenna buys them all. They do seem impossible to buy.

Fortunately I haven't had problems with the birds this year but the dog has eaten most of the gooseberries and about half the blackcurrants. He just plucks them straight off.

we have blackbirds eating ours too - they are nesting in one of the sheds! Birds taking your fruit can have unexpected benefits though - we have blackcurrants and raspberries growing in the track by the house which must have been sown by birds, and I recently found a new small gooseberry bush by the fence :D

never tried tinned bcs - they do seem a rarity in the shops :( shame when they're so easy to grow, but I suppose a bit time consuming to pick commercially...

I have always had a liking for blackcurrants but they are quite hard to find fresh in Hampshire. I tried the tinned blackcurrants from Aldi but found them too sour for my tastes although they are usable in desserts.

I think most blenders would do avocado if it's nice and ripe - the flesh should just be soft and creamy then. Thinking about it, some blenders would not do the nuts - they might have to be ground up first in a coffee grinder.

What little vitamin bursts they are! they're lovely chucked in a smoothie in frozen state - make it all icy cold. Smoothie mix can of course be made into ice lollies :)
