Oh, NoCaf that’s interesting, especially since out of the blue I’ve gone coffee mad in baking (especially since I dont like it) I even made Coffee and Walnut Cake the other day, except I missed an ingredient and it didnt rise lol Oops, but my Vegan Tirimasu went lovely.
And Yeah whens the snow going to go, It’s snowing even as I write but the gardens are bursting with crocuses – Oh, why can’t we flourish in the cold too!
alas, rabbits eat crocuses – we planted lots in ignorance of this fact and only a very few right by the house survived! tirimasu sounds lovely
What was all in your tiramisu recipe Mel? I don’t think I have ever had tiramisu but if it has coffee in in i’m there!
Lucy, have you been into Lidl’s and sampled their incredibly addictive dark chocolate marzipan eggs?
I’ve been enjoying your site. Loved the article on homeschooling and veganism.
ooh, no, I did not know about the eggs – do you know what make they are, and will add to vegan easter!! (will also seek out myself of course…)
Hi Cherie – glad you’re enjoying the site
Its the well known ‘Favorina’ brand!
They are doing small dark chocolate marzipan eggs, large ones and also some of the liquer eggs are suitable. Some aren’t though. They cost from about £1.00 to a £1.30 I think.
Sainsbury’s have three different eggs and two chocolate rabbits that are vegan this year. I have already stocked up
Thank you ladies – info added to page
I had stocked up and then I ate them all. Then I stocked up again and ate them. Looks like I’ll have to stock up in Sainsbury’s and try not to eat them right away.
I’m not a huge fan of chocolate so my stocking up was for the Easter Bunny to deliver
I love coffee, but my stomach isn’t too keen, so I was very pleased to discover NoCaff, which I prefer to other coffee substitutes. I make it with hot water and then add Vanilla Rice Milk and sugar. Wicked, but tasty and I can almost pretend I’m drinking a mug of coffee! I haven’t tried it in baking, though…
(For the offspring, of course!!!)
Sainsburys, eh? I think I’m going to have to toddle along there….
Cat ~ Tiramisu is a spongey coffey, chocolatey, creamy cake with a slight hint of alcohol, which of course you can omit if you like. Tradtionally made with marscapone, obv veganised it’s not.
This is the recipe is used.

I think it looks more complicated than it is. But it’s definitly an amazing dessert. It had a strong undertaste so it’s not to everyones liking but if you like coffee you will enjoy it.
Thanks Mel. I’ve always been intrigued by tiramisu but have never eaten it. I do love coffee though so I’ll give it a go.
Are walnuts supposed to go well with coffee? I’m thinking of making a Black Forest Cake with lots of chocolate and cherry jam filling.
yes they do go very well, I can’t take coffee, makes me very ill! LOVE black forest type cakes
cherries and chocolate are a wonderful pairing…
