rhubarb, roses, lettuce and nettles

eating from garden today. An idea from a friend of my mum’s this crumble:

rhubarb

rose petals and raindrops

topped with sugar and then crumble mix (rub some marg into some flour, stir in a little soya milk, sprinkle sugar). Will update whether turned out well or not :) update – it was really nice, a beautiful mixing of flavours and the oven released rose scents while cooking!

rhubarb and rose

This beauty was selected at lunchtime:

lettuce

Here it is in cheezly sarnies with tattie soup containing lots of nettles:

soup and sandwich, simple but lovely

Rosepetals? I bet that tasted great! When I was wee, just after the Second world War, we were given rosehip syrup on a spoon, for vitamin C. Mmmm… I still remember it…
I must admit to being a terrible coward about ‘wild’ foods and I must get over it. Your crumble looks totally yummy!

So do the sandwiches and soup! Sorry about splitting the comments. Having to do maths this early on a Sunday must be frazzling my brain! :)

I know, I’m hoping the maths will completely stop all spam and I can leave all comments open on old posts too… it doesn’t make me do them if logged in as admin ;)
