Slains Castle and Dracula

postbox

What with reading Dracula (almost finished) and it being Halloween week it seemed appropriate to venture to Slains Castle. Not been turned into holiday flats yet, though there is a big fence up – we just walked round the side of it like everyone else (never seen it so busy there… forbid entrance and everyone wants in!). Above is a view from Whinneyfold where Stoker stayed (castle just visible at the right of the photo on the cliffs).

Couldn’t visit Slains without a small trek round the Bullers

also had a nose around some contrasting churches by Cruden Bay:

Old Cruden Church with it's unusual round turrets

more traditionally built Episcopalian church

… finished the day on a suitably creepy note with Donnie Darko
