over the sea to

Skye! Had fab week with old friends, staying on the Northernmost tip of the island, generally having a good laugh and fun :) Had great views up there both back to the mainland and across to Lewis. Come back feeling all relaxed and refreshed… so photofest ahoy! (mouseovers) more on flickr

correctly speaking, it’s over the bridge now…

Skye bridge

Gazed in awe at many mountains, basalt columns etc. all through our stay – our smaller ones here look tiny now…

mountain, not sure which one

Snowed on the first day but after that the sun came out and it was all summery feeling.

snow on my bedroom window first night there

The cottage was about the best weve stayed in, with a large collection of books, vids, dvds, music, board games etc. for the evenings.

Kilt Rock

Sunk into a bog at Storr – I do have a habit of doing this, one of my old wellies has been in a west coast peat bog for many years now However, I got a piccie…

Loved Dunvegan Castle with it’s faery flag – nice atmosphere in there and gorgeous gardens.

Up the hill to Duntulm Castle, near where we were staying.

beach at Staffin - some of us were very brave!

There were many alarming road signs around warning of things you couldn’t do much about like falling rocks, flying pigs, steep hills and this (obviously we did avoid doing this):

at ferry port

Took the ferry across to Raasay for a day:

to Brochel Castle

and a glorious beach:

a seal kept coming over to look at us

Innocently driving along a road, when it turned into a highly dangerous cliffside, subsidy looking, single track – very scary, no warning signs of any sort and no turning back… no photos of it as was frozen in terror…

Calum's Road before it becomes heart-stopping

On way home yesterday we visited Eilean Donan:

another very nice castle

Other places we visited with no pics:

Skye Serpentarium which is a snake refuge but also seems to breed them, slightly odd mix there… though the snakes are obviously well cared for, mostly seized at customs.

Aros centre - sea eagles exhibition and art gallery.

I took  The Stornoway Way with me for reading in bed, seemed appropriate and indeed it was. Quirky Scottish book, reminiscent of Trainspotting. Lots of Gaelic throughout which went well with the islands.

okay…washing awaits…
