books and chestnuts

Roasted some of these in the dying embers of the fire last night – delish.

Mad shopping trip into town today. All those gifted vouchers well spent by kids. They are now deeply embroiled in the new Graphic novel of Artemis Fowl and Thatcher and Sons – don’t think I need say who bought which there :D Wonderful things are happening in Lush – they are giving things away if you spend £15 – Christmas boxes, bubble bars and anything made before the 1st of December. We have come home well endowed with glittery objects to make us sparkle and smell (good hopefully).

All very enthused by our educational plans for this year, the first part of it anyway. An Italian course has been purchased and we’ll start next week. Seemed silly to start this week as it’s rather a busy one and we know from our past experience of the French course that we do need to commit to the six days a week for best results. However, been warming up to it with some little bits from the beeb through the holidays and have now added the 1000first words and the AA essential guide for kids (most amusing).

Got very excited and ran amock at the book people – the sets they have just now are amazing! 20 books that changed the world, 14 Penguin modern classics, set of guides to 10 poets and playwrights and another set of psychology, philosophy, quantum physics etc. Saw some of those today full price so know this is a genuine bargain. Also got some art and natural history titles, oh and some viragos for me :) Still working through the grammar set we bought a while ago – all the latin bits have really helped with Italian too.
