birthday

Charlotte is now 13 :D She had a good birthday – started very early indeed watching her gift from Daniel – The Simpsons Movie. Later on we went to the cinema to see The Golden Compass – all thoroughly enjoyed that. I had read the book some time ago and thought it captured the atmosphere well. Nice schools analogy could be drawn with the whole childrens souls thing …  An alethiometer would be so handy… think I’ve developed my own internal one though :D Had some fun finding our own daemons on the site – Dan has a tiger, Charlotte a mouse and me an ocelot (Davie hasn’t been made to take the test as yet). The rest of the day Charlotte spent getting to know her requested present of a graphics tablet – lots of potential there for great things I think. She’s getting along very well with it.

Strangely, were finding the word book really fun, though we usually intend to be non-academic through December were working through it. All been ‘above average’ in the tests except Daniel once being average for verbal speed – I don’t think he really appreciated that speed was of the essence, not quality in that exercise. I was ‘excellent’ once  for verbal responsiveness :D HE Synch happening with Adrian Mole – keeps coming up with the words weve just studied.

Interesting new resource – Google schools, lesson plans and tips on using Google Earth etc.
