praxinoscope

Just as Charlotte is working hard on a short film on movie maker, particularly dealing with the audio, we see a piece about film music in Harry Potter (out on dvd on Monday – most exciting!)… and here’s a new short film about home ed :D

Yesterday Adrian Mole mentioned Charles and Diana’s wedding, so after our daily listen we went and looked it up on YouTube – that is a really useful resource for stuff like this, really helps to actually see something rather than just talking about it. Went onto look at his marriage to Camilla and some other royal related bits.

Had some fun with an animation praxinoscope – continuing the kit using :)

kids own designs - a hatching dragon and a dancing one

I was very moved by my own animation entitled ‘I like cake’, I laughed, I cried… the kids “didn’t get it”, but they are very young :)

Trees down everywhere in the wood after the gales…

Had a trip to a newish library and museum. Got some really good books but I think it was a slight stretch calling a glass cabinet, albeit a long one, a museum. It did contain some interesting bits though… some things that fit well with our discussions of Remembrance Sunday and the wars. Speaking of which there are some free resources (you can either download pdfs or send for the hard copies which are meant to be much better) here from the British Postal Museum and Archive. They have packs for both primary and secondary ages (only one includes remembrance I think – I’ve sent for it).

After the library we went for a long walk on the beach – stopped raining for the time we were there.

off to warm up with more soup now :D
