bits and bobs of education

weve been up to. Measured the sunflower this morning – it’s 8’11″ – so lovely and strong these flowers.

Weve been playing Trilemma as a good re-stretch of maths abilities, all seems to have been well retained over summer. Had a go on the Skoool site for Pythagoras again, quite fun, like how they have a history bit included. Been listening to some Mozart and the kids are both working on a piano piece for Yule  from this book (plenty time to practice ;)  ) Daniel perhaps liking looking up the historical and political background to some of the pieces more than the actual playing ;) Enjoying French with Asterix – keep meaning to photograph it. Some PSHE with Trainspotting and much related discussion. Continuing on with the drawing on the right side course – hands exercise yesterday:

Daniel's

Charlotte's finished one

What else? Lots of reading, walking, yoga, book-writing… Saw a beautiful barn owl over the back garden a couple of nights ago – amazingly silent it was.

We have acquired a friend’s wii. So lots of wiiing going on in the sittingroom. (can’t tell you how much fun I’ve had making wii/wee jokes – Charlotte has asked me to stop). Have to say – it’s a pretty amazing console, quite different from others with all the movement. I’m scarily good at shooting things (especially the UFOs abducting my poor little panic struck miis running around in a field). I think all the varying co-ordination of games is quite good for Dan too :D I left them completely to their own problem solving skills to read up on it, set it up, attatch it to the TV, thinking I would have to be called to help, but no, they worked it all out. The incentive of playing with it was large.
