the sacking of deer abbey

There’s nothing like a good pillage among friends really is there? Sorry, I mean serious study of the reformation. The monks at this abbey were known as white monks because of their white habits so Moonrabbit Lucy sorted that for the girls and ebay fitted out Martin Luther ;) Started with the pinning of his 95 theses to the door and a nice argument with the monks:

Martin Luther pins up his thesis

and they went off to hide the ‘treasures’ which we pillaged. I managed to lose my car keys which was an extra search for us… a sheep helped find them and we avoided having to call out the AA  Some beautiful old yew trees here.

Lucy had a good timetable of a cistercian monks day made up. Discussed differences with the Benedictines.

I’ve failed to take any pictures of our monkly lunch of oatcakes, fruit, peas, yogurt (alpro) and cheese (cheezly), grape and apple juices and, not so authentically, chocolate :) The sun came out in the afternoon and a game of medieval style baseball evolved :)

Had a trip to a garden centre after this and it was Christmas there… inflatable Santa’s coming out of chimneys and parachuting, fibre optics all around – there’s a quarter of the year to go yet, who is going to go and buy this stuff now?

A few other bits: the kitchen is more or less finished. Top by sink is going to be changed to a stone one as that worktop cannot cope with the wetness from the Belfast sink.

Juicer continues to be enjoyed:

romaines going in

romaine juice - combined it with celery, cucumber, apple and parsley

Tried some green coconut juice/milk…

may be an acquired taste :) was okay though...

Dried some sage:

and the garden’s still full of rabbits, they seem to be getting bigger :)
