drawing

Feeling all excited and happy about home ed plans for upcoming “term” iyswim :D Today we started the Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain course we purchased after Seoirse mentioned it in comments. It really is excellent. This morning weve done the pre-instruction self portraits (Daniel said I hadn’t made my wrinkles defined enough!) and the first lesson, which involved a vase/faces exercise and doing an upside down copy of Picasso’s drawing of Stravinsky. My brain and eyes feel slightly peculiar now but I know it’s all good – they probably haven’t been exercised properly for a long time ;) Charlotte positively revels in all work of this type – love seeing it.

Our lovely new juicer arrived – it is amazing. Had the cheaper centrifugal type before and this gets so much more juice out in comparison and is really easy to clean. It also makes gorgeous creamy ice cream just by pushing frozen bananas through it - great fun :D I see it can also make pasta but haven’t tried that – sounds a good HE experiment though…

…however we are a bit disordered here just now – new kitchen being fitted starting tomorrow. All the kitchen stuff is sitting in the dining bit for now – what a difference from the last house. The space here means it doesn’t really feel that bad at all, just different. May not be saying that after a few days of it of course.

National Schools Films Week (link deactivated for doing strange things with password demands) – free films up and down the country October and November time – have booked one for us and some friends putting us down as home educators as in previous years (assume that’s still the form). Love seeing all the curriculum subjects covered by each film – Evan Almighty will tick lots of boxes for teachers :D
