whale in harbour

I hardly listen to local news so would have been unaware of the minke whale in Fraserburgh harbour if it had not been for a phonecall from a friend this morning. Poor thing had followed a fishing boat in and is now stuck – it’s mother is waiting outside. Hopefully rescue efforts will re-start soon. I am quite hopeful for it – it doesn’t have to be moved far, not like the poor whale in the Thames last year. We sorted our recycling (which was getting close to becoming an explosive environmental disaster in a kitchen cupboard) and headed off to dispense it into various containers. Then we walked down by the harbour where a crowd had been cordoned off at a safe distance from the edge by the police:

here he is, poor baby

It was nice to see so many people concerned about the whale and lots of small children quite in awe. (he got out to open sea the next day)

We then toddled off for a long walk on the beach:

love the light conditions here

 and inspected a colourful underpass:

and came home to find Lion on top of the Landie :)

mane in need of a trim and brush I see...

Now we have plans to organise a better recycling set up this afternoon. I set them to problem solve the current arrangement and Charlotte has come up with a plan for the outside stores. Received the CAT catalogue this morning and were going to look at some more ways we could energy save etc. Some really good educational stuff in there too…
