It’s summer. No coldness. No rain. The washing might even come in dry after only one day out there! This has resulted in me skipping round the garden pointing at things and calling others to see… giant ants running around everywhere and flora all around as can be seen below. Feel quite overwhelmed by the beauty of this place… ‘we came from ugliness to this’ type thoughts whirling in my mind. Not that the last house or place were ugly but some of the experiences we had while living there were. It’s strange to no longer have that yearning to find a better place to be. Could this be contentment? Wow. We are so blessed.
Looking back at the old diary the other day, interesting to see how differently I write it now. I don’t really note down all the different ways we learn from day to day experiences as I just take it as a given and how life should be/is. It’s not an amazing new thing anymore. But it’s still an amazing thing – I just have to look at the kids to be reminded of that. I don’t think about school so much now either with the newness of HE waring off, the horrors of the past become older too - that was a different world, though I’ll never forget the truths I learned there, or quite how bad it was for my children. In fact my increduality at much of what goes on there only grows with time…
So let’s see, can I dredge up anything remotely educational to talk about today? Daniel discovered that JK has revealed some more epilogue facts here - he is now reading the entire series to himself. Charlotte’s reading and drawing lots. Both children are writing books – one fiction, one factual. Dan’s been designing a very complex fantasy board game. Charlotte and I were looking at details of a degree course she fancies doing – she was most miffed that being 12 will prevent her from partaking as yet ;) We saw a young fox in the woods – followed it quietly for quite a long way before Toby made an excited noise and alerted it to our presence. It was very fluffy looking – amazing to see. Yes, there’s going to be follow up research and drawing. Were all enjoying seeing some of our friends who go to school while they’re on holiday just now. Weve all been cooking and getting better at various practical things – this is one of the great gifts of HE to an aspie child. They often need extra input in this area and there’s just not time in the standard curriculum for it.

you see – all lovely now…

fabulous guide to foraging in Britain.
amazing Russian books these: spirituality; growing; living naturally; raising children with love and respect; quite magical. Release any preconceived ideas of how life should be (or books) and create your space of love!
A very well researched novel which, alongside Picoult's usual 'heading to a trial' plot, explores many facets of and perspectives on Asperger's Syndrome. The potential and common effects of AS on siblings is especially well documented here. As gripping and informative a book as
a great storehouse of food growing knowledge from Dirty Nails :)
