Been having a nice time with family and friends. Lots of chatting while sitting on sofas eating ice cream , listening to very loud singstar 80s – must have been really loud as we heard it.
*somewhat irrelevant side note* One of the things I love about this house compared to the last one is that we can’t hear things from one part of the house to the other. If someone’s got the TV blaring in the sitting room I won’t hear it through in the bedroom while reading my book. I used to be able to vacuum the whole house on one central socket once I got the dyson with it’s long cable – now I have to change 4 times… definitely not complaining though
Had an interesting discussion about home ed – all the various great attributes that different people notice and appreciate. One we all seem to love is the ‘going with the flow’ when an interest springs up in a particular subject. Then once the interest dwindles it can be put aside and returned to later with that base knowledge already acquired. Conversely there’s no having to stop when the project or allotted time is passed – you go in as deep as you want. Also talked about how almost anything is educational if you’re in a frame of mind to learn… and of course almost anything can be completely non-educational if you’re not. Could understand teenage bad behaviour to a certain extent when undergoing the boredom of the farming museum recently (not really boring – weve just been there too much) – anything naughty would have relieved the boredom for a moment… mocking stuff, breaking stuff, stealing something… of course I would not have spoiled everyone else’s enjoyment and learning, or disrespected the staff by actually doing any of these things…
My brother was down to look at his car in the inspection pit and we discovered a toad in there – don’t know how long it had been there. Airlifted it to freedom in a bucket and let it go near the pond. What a knobbly, muscular little thing it was compared to the frogs. Couldn’t prolong it’s agitation by going to get the camera. However there are lots of tiny little frogs all around the pond at the moment – here’s one still with tail. Haven’t had the camera on me for the others yet…

Then my Mum and Dad were down this morning with pressies for the kids from their holiday. Dan got some great books and Charlotte has already begun some glue-enthused artwork:
