old aberdeen

Day started well with French, though I am becoming increasingly worried about Tom and Kate’s (the holidaymakers we follow) relationship. Tom moans that things are froid, trop petit and tres cher all the time while Kate makes frequent comments about the attractiveness of various men she meets ;) Hope they make it to week six… We followed up by playing Les Courses a Faire as that’s this weeks focus… think we’ll add in some phrases to that tomorrow as it’s quite simple now.

Appointment at the dentist all went well – none of us need anything done. Obviously had never mentioned HE to him before. He told us how his daughter is sitting highers just now and how easy the English one is compared to when he did it. It can be based around a television programme you’ve watched… Combined our trip there with a visit to Old Aberdeen. So much more relaxing than the new part :) We needed to investigate the route between two venues for an upcoming home ed trip and had some fun and education on the way. Started in the park:

Visited St. Machar’s Cathedral – Aberdeen’s oldest building. There were two COS bods in there, one of whom became quite animated when we said we were home ed in answer to that question. Told us he’d been reading about homeschooling in Scotland. He took us all round telling and showing us all sorts of things. Daniel asked him various astonishingly intelligent questions (how does he know it all? never fails to amaze me) and we all agreed it had been a really good history lesson.

Charlotte lit a prayer candle for Madeleine

Then wandered along to the Cruickshank Botanic Gardens to check the logistics of walking 30 children through there to the zoology building – think it’ll be fine, we’ll have lots of adults… shouldn’t lose anyone in the undergrowth.

rhodies further out than ours...
