whales woods cows

is it a dolphin?Really nice day out today. A few weeks back I had enquired about a big outside Buddah at an antique shop we passed – they finally found us one :) It’s dark now and I think a daylight picture will be better so more on that later… (believe me – there’s enough pics here anyway).

We combined this with a trip to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Centre at Speybey. Good little exhibition there – we all enjoyed reading up on cetaceans and sea otters etc. Looked for dolphins/whales/seals in the sea but failed to see any today. It is a beautiful spot where the river spey runs into the sea.

Then on to some shopping in possibly the worlds largest garden centre – lovely aquatic plants, herbs and flowers :) On the way back we went for a walk in Speymouth forest, up to the viewpoint and back down the winding walks. I seem to drag the children up a steep hill every day at the moment – there’s one in our woods too. rainbow trees

“Why would someone go to the bother of writing that?” asked Daniel. Both children found it highly amusing…

…and here’s Toby with his cow friends at the bottom of the garden. I have noticed how cows are completely fascinated by dogs before. They seem to adore him and spend hours watching his every move, jostling each other to get a better view. They’re quite crestfallen when he wanders into the house. Camera has made them look a bit scary with glowing eyes – not like that in reality, very gentle, timid and sweet.
