tent and owl poo

Yesterday we went for a really long walk in some woods that have been shut for tree felling for the last eight months. They seemed so disorientingly different in places, it felt strange like some barren wasteland. Below are two photos of the burial cairn that is found there, or the remains of it. We saw what we think is either owl poo or vomit on the central stone – fascinating seeing the tiny mice bones in it (were lovely people us home edders aren’t we??).

You can just make out the white horse on Mormond Hill here:

Children collected some tree slices that had been left – not quite sure what they intend doing with them.

This morning our lovely new computer came, a day earlier than expected :) Fully involved kids in it’s set-up, all very educational and problem free. Then in the afternoon, capitalising on the heatwave, we put a tent up in the back garden. I do feel the bargain camp beds were a mistake – they were near impossible to assemble, instructions left you to work stuff out like some sort of IQ challenge (Argos £7.99 – not recommended!).
