Okay I think today is our hot day – last couple of days have been quite cool and breezy but not cold (which is in itself unusual for up here!). Weve been sitting outside reading My Ishmael which was recommended to us as a life-changing book which makes you question things. It’s certainly very readable and Daniel is already, just a few chapters in, trying to work out ways in which us ‘civilised’ people differ from traditionally living tribal peoples, how weve got so much wrong etc. He keeps coming through to tell me more things he’s worked out. Will get back to it in a bit.
The Book People got me again with their amazing offers of packs of books (DK eyewitness guides, Jane Austen, Alex Rider, a latin title for Dan and a horse storybook for Charlotte) am going to have to look for more bookshelves on freecycle if this keeps up ;) Also felt very proud of myself for opening up the constantly over-heating laptop and cleaning a huge amount of hair and dust out of it’s fan and surrounding bits. Had some trouble getting it to come on at all (had little springy screws in wrong) after but it seems fine now :) Visited my mum and dad in the afternoon, did some other shopping and bank chores so I feel very organised now. Lynda bought the children the DVD of Zathura and we watched it in the evening – good fun. Right, back to Ishmael and the sun…

fabulous guide to foraging in Britain.
amazing Russian books these: spirituality; growing; living naturally; raising children with love and respect; quite magical. Release any preconceived ideas of how life should be (or books) and create your space of love!
A very well researched novel which, alongside Picoult's usual 'heading to a trial' plot, explores many facets of and perspectives on Asperger's Syndrome. The potential and common effects of AS on siblings is especially well documented here. As gripping and informative a book as
a great storehouse of food growing knowledge from Dirty Nails :)
