banana maths

This morning weve been kept really busy with maths – Dan’s tutorial lasted a long time and had lots more questions than usual. Charlotte was doing magical maths again and the angles took a while – backed that up with a banana game and also Kung Fu Angles which she really liked and completed all the levels. Read some more Animal Farm – not too far to go now but I remember the worst treachery is to come :(

Yesterday was similar to Monday with maths and English jobs in the morning though we started a new bilingual French book obtained for £1 on Amazon marketplace – L’Ile Fantastique – which is fun like the castle one :) In the afternoon we visited my parents and for various reasons my brother and sister were there too so it was a nice family gathering. Made me think of the comment about home ed kids not having access to the best teachers – here were my children surrounded by experts in various fields. From a Ph.d in Chemistry to Masters in electronic engineering and English. Much discussion was had on all sorts of matters from the Pre-Raphaelites to cars and creatures. In the evening Charlotte did several sections of the Wizard Whimstaff book Spectacular Science “for fun”. She really loves it and was doing more at the crack of dawn today – it is quite basic so she’s very able to do it, though it’s the most advanced primary science book they produce in this magical range. Found myself querying parts of it – a fish really isn’t a herbivore so should not have been suggested as a possible answer (answers in back of book) for that part of a food chain, I’m becoming rather pedantic I think!

Also had quite an amusing chat with an old friend who called me to tell me, well actually about a house we might like, but also about our old school having a reunion! Neither of us could think of any worse social event to attend – wonder if anyone will go?
