Kids both worked very hard on a book report today. Was really impressed with the content – their writing and critical thinking is certainly developing! The picture below is Charlotte sitting at Daniel’s desk in his room, describing triffids. It may not seem very amazing but it is. The desk has been cleared of books so we had to take a photo – who knows when it may be seen again?! Weve also read a little about John Wyndham and ordered 2 more of his books (The Chrysalids and The Kraken Wakes, Daniel particularly fancied the latter). Watched some of the BBC series last night – it has stuck quite closely to the book and we all enjoyed it. There was a slight ‘dumbing down for viewers’ moment when they make a much bigger deal out of a clue of what’s to come than the book did. The 80s hairstyles/clothes/cars detract from it a little I suppose or possibly add humour that shouldn’t be there. Charlotte voiced what I was thinking, that it was much better reading the book than watching it – very pleased to hear my dyslexic daughter say that. However were looking forward to watching more tonight – Davie wants us to wait for him so it’s obviously exciting
