hedgehog and chocolate crispies :)

The evening was spent watching films (ET returning home still makes me cry :) and making chocolate rice crispie treats. Read quite a scary part of a story in the home ed book mentioned below about a young man with aspergers who was friends with one of the children mentioned. He did well in exams at school and had a job but was completely unable to look after himself and ended up living in a terrible state. **edit in to clarify - this man had NOT been home educated** Has made me realise I must work on helping Daniel to learn practical, life essential skills more. Hence the rice crispie treats – well no-one can get through life without them obviously :) So he’s all set now. Seriously though, feel so glad that his education can now be structured to fit perfectly like this. Charlotte has continued to be very organised with packing and has written out a long list of things to take with her. I read it through and was so impressed with how her spelling has come on – there were only two very minor errors. I asked her what she thought had contributed to the improvement, waiting for acknowledgement of program bought from dyslexia association and spelling workbooks. No – apparantly reading Asterix books has been the key – who would have thought???

Uneventful and quiet Saturday morning today – everyone being left to their own devices. We finished off our puzzles – have to say they’re really good, lots of basic info. with them. Charlotte is packing her backpack for a short trip we have planned later in the week and Daniel has been researching lesser known facts about the moon. Pouring with rain but were just off for a wet walk in the woods.
