Last night after playing with the geomags and us discussing mathematical properties Charlotte went off to do some maths study of her own. She played on Timez Attack for a while and then did a whole block of fraction work with Daisy Maths. She explained her reasons as ‘it’s fun, not like school maths’. Lovely. Think a big plus for her, being dyslexic, was the absence of writing. Her class at the Waldorf school were introduced to fractions through food – they spent a couple of weeks dividing up and eating cakes and pizzas. A happy association
Today we trekked into Aberdeen again and have spent all those vouchers. More Geomags (sitting room floor now covered in all sorts of constructions), Nintendogs, clothes and Daniel has been delighting us with disgusting facts from this book all day. Have been pointing out to him that many of these jobs do have modern day equivalents and sometimes the poorest people still end up doing the worst things. Am looking forward to dispensing with Christmas for another year – tomorrow is Davie’s last day of holiday and were clearing everything festive away. Have not yet started on my ‘health and fitness’ thing but have ordered myself this exercise ball in preparation – something I have not tried before to keep exercise interesting (that’s my theory anyway). Kids might like it too.
