maths and yew trees

Catriona has more gorgeous recipes up on her blog.

Downloaded this sweet (also completely free) maths program last night which I read about on another blog – Daisy Maths (sadly, now gone) - says it’s suitable for up to age twelve but I have to say that activity 13 (hardest level) is rather challenging – dividing by fractions… tricky stuff. Activity 1 starts with very basic counting and sums. Charlotte is most impressed with the program and had to be prised away from the computer last night to go to bed! It was written by an Australian professor to help his daughter Daisy with maths.

A very cold start to today; was -4 at 9am when I went out with the bin. Weve visited Deer Abbey this morning. Daniel has been reading up on Yew trees and wanted to see some older ones and I remembered that there are a few there. The frost made it look like it had all been dusted with icing sugar – beautiful! Had lots of informative discussions about things there from yew trees to trained apple trees and religion.
