rainbows and marzipan

Just been sent the monthly newsletter from BBC – Education Scotland with lots of notable and seasonal bits – well worth signing up for.

Saw this beautiful rainbow on the way home from my mum’s today:

Picture does not do it justice at all – we chased it up a little back road but sadly did not find the pot of gold. Did note how it vanishes when you reach it and then re-appears behind you (chasing rainbows – how great is this home ed??). Getting really cold and sleety here again. Played cards and my dad discussed all manner of scientific things with the children today. Earlier we saw 5 deer on our walk – they were grazing in a field, as they often are this time of year once the farmer has moved the cows inside for winter. Have been being very good with our exercising – kids been doing yoga each day and me, aerobics. During better weather we all get out on the trampoline a lot but it hasn’t been dry and jumpable on for ages. A friend has passed on You Magazine from The Mail on Sunday (30th October) with a really good article on home-education. Does not seem to be available on line. A quote I liked from Carina Cooper, one of the parents interviewed: “With home schooling, the aim is to teach your children how to think rather than what to think” – yes, resonate with that.

St. Nick delivered some lovely chocolate covered marzipan :)
