chess and chocolate buttons

A fairly autonomous day. Charlotte has been practicing her chess skills with cartoon chess online and doing a lot of art. Dan has been studying eagle owls and islands in some depth. I’ve done some Christmas shopping online – some of it very delicious from here – those giant chocolate buttons are amazing :) Nice long walk and very pink sunrise this afternoon – the house seemed all lit up with pink light and then all of a sudden it’s dark… finding winter very beautiful so far this year.

The start of anti-bullying week and England is doing this. Can see things going a bit wrong – the poorest people could end up being fined when they need help themselves. At least it is a statement that something needs to be done I suppose.

Nice day yesterday - up at my mums for lunch. Boys chewed over rivers, islands, life, temperature, earth changes, environmental issues and more. Played ’3 and pick the pack’ and some other games. Watched a kestrel that flies around there and looked up birds of prey in books. It’s extremely cold again – hope the snow holds off until after the Christmas Fare at the weekend! Weve just prepared our Winter Solstice card for the postcard exchange – it’s holiday cards this time. Were going to be receiving a Hanukkah card from Canada – good opportunity to learn all about this festival.
