Techfest, Pride and Prejudice

Techfest a few days ago. Had great time there – everyone really enjoyed themselves. Went to shows on rainforests, maths and the Cosmic Dome all about stars. Made wooden pencil holders with the Forestry Commission, got some great tree posters from them too. Studied the geology of Britain, fossils, wildlife, energy, robotics and civil engineering. Probably made back the admission fee in collecting all the freebies – notebooks, pencils, rulers etc. – very good value event!! Another synergistic thing – the magic of maths show contained some of the same strategies that we’d learned on that video yesterday – unplanned reinforcement of techniques :) Saw quite a few people from the Waldorf there today.

Popped to the cinema  yesterday to see ‘Pride and Prejudice’ to complete our little project on Jane Austen. We all really enjoyed it – perfect mixture of romance, humour and beautiful scenery. Afterwards we went for a walk on Aberdeen beach – very windy and sunny but nice. When we came home Davie noticed that Pride and Prejudice was on UKGold TV – it was the BBC series with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy… very nice! They were showing the whole thing so we sat up all evening watching it – a good comparison with the film.

Pride and PrejudiceWe read this edition of ‘Pride and Prejudice’, with lots of extra historical and literary notes included - all really enjoyed it!!
