Tolquhon and Mystic Wood

Had a trip over to Tolqhhon Castle a few days ago - was very good, we always love that castle. They have repaired one of the towers so you can go up higher than before. We then went on to the Prop of Ythsie which is a monument that can be seen for miles around. We found it extremely creepy and unpleasant feeling inside though we did climb to the top. Also visited the nearby stone circle at Ythsie – much nicer!

Had a lovely couple of days with our friend Cat coming to stay – went for walks, ate good food (raw chocolate – very interesting), drank posh gin (only the older of us!) saw ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ at the cinema and talked and talked. We are now all more knowledgeable about herbs, nasty food production techniques and nutrition! (Cat is doing a degree in medical herbalism).

A book all about chocolate in it’s unadulterated raw state – always knew it was a health food really! Gives lots of scientific information, history of the cacao bean, raw recipes with pics…Charlotte made the little raw chocolate bars with Catriona.

Spent the morning playing Mystic Wood, a game I had when a child and loved. It is far more complicated than I remembered but great fun. It’s no longer made so I ended up paying through the nose for it on ebay - it’s become collectable and I kept being outbid. Also won a couple of other, very reasonably priced maths games.
